What is A Place to Call Home?
A Place to Call Home is our campaign to raise the necessary resources to move toward a permanent home for the Austin campus. We believe the 25 acres of land that we secured through IMPACT will reach the 100,000 un-churched people within its seven mile radius. We want to create a home you can visit any time or day, not just on Sunday. It is our desire that this space will be full of inspiration, comfort, safety and connection.
We are praying and believing that God will move in a big way, and that we will be able to build our students’ and children’s buildings in the first phase of this project. This would allow us to gather together for worship in the student building and house our administration in the education building. We have even planned for a coffee shop near the entrance of both buildings. Beginning December 3 of 2017, we are asking everyone to be sacrificially involved in this rescue mission. Each gift will not be the same, but every gift is vital.
What did the Impact campaign accomplish?
Through gifts of Impact, the campaign that ran until fall of 2017, we were able to secure land for a permanent home of the Austin Campus. Not only did Impact provide our down payment on 25 acres, your Impact contributions have also allowed us to prepare the land to build by paying for environmental studies, water research, civil engineering fees, and landscape design concepts.
Most importantly, Impact enabled us to hire an architect to complete the preliminary design for Phase 1 of our Real Life Master Plan. In addition to all of this, Impact helped us retro-fit the existing house on the property to transform into our offices with unique container storage on site as well. Impact contributions also allowed us to launch Warehouse 45 (a dynamic, relevant ministry to 4th and 5th graders), redesign the lobby, make changes to our portable worship center area, and enabled us to bless our mission’s partners around the world and in Austin.

Why are we starting a new campaign in the middle of impact?
Two years ago, when IMPACT began, we never dreamed we would be in this position so quickly. The goal of IMPACT was to secure this property. Not only have we done that, we’ve got our staff on the land; we’ve got our students on the land; and we’ve developed The Property to prepare us for this moment. We have been able to start designing our vision and looking at the reality of constructing a Place to Call Home much sooner than we thought.
What do we know about how Bowie’s bond will affect our Sunday gatherings?
This bond includes plans for Bowie to tear down the gym we meet in and build a new one. No date has been set but we have always dreamed about a place to call our own and while there is no panic, this initiative gives us focus and purpose for a permanent tool God can use for this rescue mission.
Can our current congregation sustain the expenses of a new building?
We currently pay $180,000+ per year to use Bowie for five hours each Sunday. According to our projections, our current tithes and offerings can cover the mortgage, utilities, and risk management costs because we estimate these combined costs will be lower than our current lease payment to Austin ISD.
Are these buildings only going to be used on Sundays?
Our desire is not to build a box that is used only on Sundays, but a third space environment with outdoor amenities that our community can experience 24/7.
How soon would construction begin?
If we meet our financial pledge goals, we have the potential to break ground in early Spring 2018, start moving dirt in early Summer 2018, and have the project complete by Spring 2019.
